We brought all the experience that we were able to collect over the last 30 years of climbing, but especially over 20 years of guiding, training, coaching and educating in the sport together and poured it into what is now ALTIORA.
In times where everything seems to be short lived, attention focused, somehow artificial and digital, we are motivated to bring the counter proof: Teaching in climbing is a craft, hands on and personal. It pays tribute to the complexity of the sport: climbing is more than movement on a wall.
Acting in a team, craft and expression, dealing with risk and adventure, interacting with oneself, the full bandwidth of emotions, experience of nature and being what we believe the best sport imaginable. Climbers strive upwards, literally and metaphorically.

The origins of ALTIORA Climbing go back over 25 years when Christoph Gotschke started to give his first climbing workshops for special needs kids called „Abenteuer Klettern - Abenteuer Ich“ and his thesis on „Krafttraining im Klettersport - ein Selbstexperiment“.
From this moment on, climbing wasn’t just an expression of athleticism, adventure and skill for him but also a way to communicate, teach and contribute to people’s lives.
Christoph Gotschke, the heart of ALTIORA, is a certified mountain guide, educator for the German Alpine Club and German Mountain Guides Association and climbing trainer with additional certifications in climbing therapy and nutrition. 20 years of professional expertise on the cutting edge are the unparalleled and invaluable core of ALTIORA climbing.
His own bouldering gym KRAFTWERK Climbing was a dream since his early 20´s and a logical step after managing a climbing gym for 8 years. KRAFTWERK is now a well known, independent place to be for the climbing scene of the region and a representation of his values.
His personal climbing is characterized by ambition, expertise and curiosity in all disciplines, from early expeditions to the hardest mixed lines, from first ascents till 8b+ to juggling family and business life with risky highball boulders and trad routes. The Bavarian powerhouse left no stone unturned, characterizing his talents as „stubbornness, curiosity and learning“.
Alongside his partner, Ola Gotschke, the brand architect who masterfully crafts and sustains Altiora's and Kraftwerk’s image across all digital and marketing channels, they've built an exceptional team. This includes highly qualified mountain guides, experienced climbing instructors, dedicated nutrition coaches, and expert physiotherapists. This powerful synergy of specialized professionals creates the Altiora Hub – a comprehensive approach designed to empower you to reach new heights.

ALTIORA is based in the border region between Tirol / Austria and Bavaria, in the very south of Germany.
This is where we are rooted, this is where we operate physically.
Our COURSES and TRAININGS with physical contacts are principally done in this region, while we are able to operate in a wider radius (that includes Munich, Augsburg, Ulm, Memmingen, etc.) as well. Our region is a popular holiday area and offers great climbing - therefore people frequently combine a short trip with a COURSE, TRAINING or COACHING with us.
For engagements longer than one day, for example a multi-day trad course or a bigger event we’re ready to travel.
ALTIORA TRAINING, COACHING, HEALTH offers are also done remotely, so the physical location is irrelevant. We are very happy to work in English or German.
ALTIORA CORPORATE can be done wherever your company is or where the event is located. For outdoor trainings, we’ll anyway plan a good spot together.
